Fondue treat: When mountain cheese meets white wine

Nostalgic flair, candlelight and the smell of spicy mountain cheese in the nose: the Fondue Stüble is the oldest element in today's Valais farm. Here the originality is the design. The Valais fondue, a Vorarlberg speciality, tastes particularly good to our guests in a cosy atmosphere.

With only six tables, the Fondue Stüble offers plenty of privacy for an atmospheric evening. The room is the rest of the former hotel Schesaplana. He was fortunately rescued in part in a fire in 1948. The preserved wood panelling and the historical pictures - traditional costume girls and herb cutters - lend the room a noble rustic flair.

Valais cheese fondue: Vorarlberg speciality

The classic fondue in Vorarlberg is the Valais cheese fondue. In the 14th century "mountainous Lüt" migrated from the Swiss canton of Valais to Vorarlberg - the ancestors of the Valais farm. Wind, weather and terrain could not harm them. They influenced the culture of life in Vorarlberg - and thus also the eating habits.

Mountain cheese, wine, bread and handicrafts

For the Valais cheese fondue, Vorarlberg cheeses are melted with white wine to form a creamy mass. Typical of this is the particularly spicy "Räßkäß", a naturally matured semi-hard cheese from the Ländle region. Traditionally, bread is dipped into the fondue and then enjoyed - at the Walliserhof, of course, home-baked with a lot of love and craftsmanship.
